Furniture Industry Knowledge Standard

Everything you need to know for a head start in the furniture industry

A direct response to the difficulty in training remote workers who are new to the contract furniture industry.

At 1 hour per day this course prepares for real life situations within the admin, sales support, procurement and quotations environments. After sign up the student will learn the ropes in 2 weeks and catch up to the team they'll be joining.
The course replaces up to a year of shadowing others and improves their chances of passing the 3 month trial period.

It's a great way to learn furniture history, industry lingo, best practices, manufacturing methods, working with finance, design and installation teams as well as how to organise workload. All in the aim to decrease costly errors and improve productivity.

The course is designed to be completed within 2 weeks at just over an hour a day. It's all remote, via online video, includes downloadable files and additional reading material.
Examination is done via built-in graded quizzes and help is available via email directly from the course creator.

"As a body of knowledge for people joining the contract furniture industry, this training course will provide a great introduction to all aspects of the industry - from the history of office design and office furniture through to best practice hints and tips, information on electrical standards and logistics, health and safety as well as tendering best practice, this course covers a lot of ground. Well researched, informative and easy to understand - well done Michael! "

- Matthew Green, Project Manager & Business Analyst, Financial Times

“Having worked in the contract furniture industry for some years, I took the course wanting to have a fresh overview of all the areas involved in my daily work. The FIKS course has given me a good overview of the contract furniture industry with the most up-to-date information. The course content has a good balance between theory, products and practical application. It is interactive plus you can review the content at your own pace. I think it is a good introduction to the industry for all the people who are just getting into it and helps people who have been in the industry to broaden their knowledge.”

- Elizabeth Flores Rivas, Bids & Tenders Coordinator, Tsunami Axis

"Totally new to the industry, I did the FIKS course and it was really helpful. Despite me also learning English, it is very easy to understand. Thanks to this course I have quickly been able to run small projects successfully and with confidence. I strongly recommend taking this course whether you are new to the industry or not, as many of the things covered during FIKS are things I believe everyone can benefit from!"

- Xacobe Suárez, A&D, Pi Group Ltd

"I found this course very useful in giving a clear overview to every department involved in the process with in the furniture industry. Providing an insight to the current British standards, that all involved should be mindful of, at any stage of a project is perfect in setting a high standard of knowledge for new people starting in the industry. I found some great tips and advice in general with my favourite unit being the history of furniture and how the industry was influenced by so may designs. As a whole I found this course very enjoyable and easy to use, I would highly recommend it"

- Edan Ward, Sales Support & Procurement, Tsunami Axis
